Default Radiator, air pump and check valve problems.

I own a 99' Blazer...
I just drove 2,000 miles from Indiana to California in my Blazer. I was pulling about a 1 ton u-Haul with all my stuff in it. Things went bad and my radiator ended up getting a crack in my radiator and having it towed 250 miles away from my destination.

Anyway, I had an estimate of how much it would cost to fix it and would like to know if anyone knows a good parts store (online) for the parts listed below.
Here is the estimate I got from the first mechanic:

Parts ............................................. Quantity ............. Each
Air Injection Tube ...................................1.................. $33.00
Air Pump ...............................................1.................. $406.00
Air Diverter Valve ....................................1.................. $50.00
Air Pump Check Valve ..............................2................... $41.00
Radiator ................................................1.................. $218.00
Anti-Freeze (per gal) ...............................1................... $20.00
.................................................. .............................--------
.................................................. .............................$809.00

Labor
........................................... Hour ........ Rate ......Amount
R & R Air Injection Tube ....................0.90........ $90.00...... $81.00
R & R Air Pump ................................1.00........... " "......... $90.00
R & R Air Pump Check Valve ...............0.30............" "......... $27.00
R & R Radiator .................................1.40........... " "........ $126.00
.................................................. ................................--------
.................................................. ................................$324.00

Grand Total 1,204.03

Please take a look at the figures above and tell me if you guys agree with this estimate or if you think I am getting ripped off. Also, if you have a site where I can find all the parts listed for a cheaper price please let me know.

I found a site with a brand new radiator for 159.95 and a brand new Air Pump for 129.95.

Thank you all in advance

20 bucks just for coolant alone!?!? That can't be right can it? I thought coolant was more like 12 bucks....prolly just me

His labor costs seem about avg. I've seen them run anywhere from 75.00 to 110.00 per hour. I'd still try to find a different shop that can do 75 or 80. That extra 10 per hour will add up quick.

As far as parts, most smaller shops will allow you to bring in your own parts, but it will void any warranty the shop holds for work done.

Tell him to stick the AIR pump stuff and just fix the radiator. The prices on the radiator repair do not look all that bad, but that AIR pump stuff seems quite high.

X2

The air pump will not effect how your truck runs. I would also call around to a couple of radiator shops to get a better price. I bought a new one from a small place here in town for about $130. If you can buy an all aluminum instead of the stock one with plastic on the ends.

Call 1 800 RADIATOR. Decent prices, and they usually come to you.
