Radiator Question
I’m swapping an engine on my 98 Blazer because my engine is bad. I read you need to change the oil cooler due to metal flakes. I also read that the oil cooler is inside the radiator. Will this radiator work with my 98 Blazer and does it have an oil cooler in it? Sorry, Im pretty new to this stuff. Thanks!

In my opinion (and this is only my opinion so take it for what it's worth), you can probably get most, if not all, of the junk out of your oil cooler with a thorough cleaning, then put a filter inline after the cooler to catch anything that might be left. But radiators are pretty cheap, and they don't last forever, so it seems like cheap insurance to go ahead and replace it at the same time.

One option is to flush the engine oil cooler in the radiator before hooking up the new engine to the existing radiator oil cooler. They make a special aerosol can to do that. But another option is to by pass the 'in the radiator' oil cooler and install a new externally mounted oil cooler. Captain Hook had some write up's on this and even had Advance Auto part no.s of a external radiator he was using. Try a search for that. I have no luck on forum searches.

If you are curious as to what the oil cooler looks like that is built into our radiators, this is it.
You can see it is stacked plate design. I would think it could be flushed but since you are replacing your motor, you might as well give it a new radiator.
