Smile RE; Dropping Pan

when you are replacing tranny fluid and the filter, do you have to drop the crossmember that blocks one side of the pan ????????

Thanks, Kennybopaloo..................................

You may have to. All depends on what you are working on. At this point, I am not going to look back through your posts...

I didn't have to remove the cross member on my 2000 Bravada. If you force things, you can damage the solenoids on the back side of the valve body which isn't good.

Red face RE; Pan

as i look up a the pan you can see the crossmember just about touching the outer rim of the tranny pan.

it looks like a very, very tight squeeze to get the bolts out.

i presume the crossmember coming down doesn't interfere with anything else. you just drop it and put it back into place.

NO YOU DONT JUST DROP YOUR CROSSMEMBER.....that will leave the back of the tranny "with t/case if 4x4" sagging bad! if your talking about the 4l60e trans, No you just use a 1/4" drive 10mm for the shifter link. and 12mm for the rest "im pretty sure on size" then just drop the pan and do whatever you need in there.
