Rebuild transfer case?

Rebuild transfer case?
I have a 1986 full size blazer, I want to rebuild the transfer case, but I have never rebuilt one before, I am a very mechanically minded person, should I attempt this on my own, or should I spend the money and get a pro to do it?

A transfer case is fairly straight forward. A good manual should walk you through the steps required to get it done.
Factory service manuals are always a good investment:
1986 CHEVROLET & GMC TRUCK: PICKUP BLAZER SUBURBAN VAN SHOP SERVICE MANUAL SET - $47 shipped is a steal for this!
And the unit repair manual is what digs in depth into things:
1986 Chevrolet Truck Blazer Suburban Shop Service Manual Unit Repair Overhaul UR - $47.45 to your door.
I like to have the manuals, but you likely can find some good guides online. You likely have the NP208 transfer case. A Google search for "NP208 Transfer Case Rebuild" should get you something.

Well I got it done, it was not as bad as I thought it would be, it took about an hour to take it apart and about 2 hours to put it back together. I did a lot of worrying about nothing. I'll put new u-joints in the drive shafts some time this week and have it going by the end of the week.
