Default Repeated start and stall

Hey everyone, 2 days ago I tried to remote start my 98 jimmy with an aftermarket alarm. it tried 3 times and it would fire up then immediatly die. hopped in and the security light was on which i havent seen for years and it was still doing the same thing when trying to start it with the key. fire up then die.

I tried about 8 times then gave up and left it for 10 minutes. went back outside and now it stayed running and no security light after the 1st try.

Now let me say this is not the 1st time this starting issue has happened but it is the 1st time that it wouldnt start with the security light on. Ive had this happen (without security light) at least 3 other times.

Sounds like a passlock issue. It could be a problem with the remote starter install... Depends on how the bypass module is tied in.

its an old model dei. probably installed when the truck was new back in 98. and its 1 hella confusing alarm. ive read thru the install guide and reprogrammed the remote, and wow.

but this has happened on other occasions without the security light, could it still be passlock related without the security light on?

Possibly. I would start with the bypass module that was used. The remote start units typically do not include the bypass since that changes depending on the vehicle.

Check over all of the connections to/from the bypass module and remote starter / alarm as a first step.
