Reverse and Neutral don't work after flex plate install! HELP please!
Hello I replaced a flexplate on a 1994 5.7L blazer with an automatic transmission. I removed the transmission, drained the converter, replaced flex plate, torqued everything to specs and put everything back together correctly.. Park, overdrive, drive, 2, and 1 work as they should. However reverse just puts the blazer to a stand still, and neutral moves the car forward like overdrive, and drive gears..after driving around for a bit the fluid level is full..
When I filled the transmission, I added fluid while the car was off, and then topped it off while the trans was in park after it had been running. If anyone has any ideas on whats wrong that would be greatly appreciated!

So what happens when you put it in Park? I make sure the transmission is in Neutral when I pull it and the shift indicator is in Neutral. Then upon reassembly it just needs to be in Neutral again. If my memory is correct you probably had to shift it out of park to remove the shift cable from the linkage on the transmission. That is most likely where your problem started. The transmission shifted however the cable and lever in the vehicle did not.

I would look at linkage, however, I hear and see the trans shift from park all the way to 1. I know the parking mechanism in park at the output shaft is engaging because I can hear it. Engine feels loaded when I throw it into park.
