Default Rod knock...

I'm sure there are plenty of threads about this, but what exactly is the bare minimum amount of work I'd have to accomplish in order to rid my truck of it's rod knock? I've been looking at master rebuild kits and I can't quite cough up that kind of money right now. I'm thinking about a crank, rods, all necessary bearings, some gaskets... Anything else? Please help me out here.
