Rod Knocking

i would agree with that to a point maybe, but the statement of all oils having the same viscosity @ running temp, is like saying all cars doing 100mph have the same aero dynamics and use the same amount of fuel.
finding 0w-30 tho isn't exactly the easiest thing to do and 5w-30 should be more than sufficient to keep your motor running smooth. since yanno that's the manufacturer's suggested oil. you shouldn't also notice any issues running a lower W rated oil with the same SAE 30 reading on the end of it - just means its more fluid in cold weather and still the same ole oil @ running temp as 5w30 or 10w30... if you meant that @ operating temp ALL the xxw30 oils have the same viscosity @ running temp then YES you are right for that. Just may have over simplified your statement lol.

i am having a similar problem. i was just driving down the road and pulled into a wall mart parking lot and the motor started knocking. i havent lost any power, or have any smoke blowing out the back, but the oil pressure went down to arround 20 to 30 psi. and the knocking increases with the rpms. i have no clue what has happened. any suggestions?

change your oil to something a bit thinner if your not already running say 5w30 and look into something like the zmax oil lubrication additive - its thin as all out and won't affect the oils viscosity as most of it soaks into the metal or evaporates within 15-20 min

To better asses your problem we need more info about the vehicle. Year, exact vehicle model, oil change frequency, vehicle milage, typical driving conditions, a better description of the knock, etc. As much as you can come up with would be helpful.
