rough ignition and misfire but no code
It has already been an expensive summer so I need some help. Today I replaced all 4 balljoints, replaced a hub assy in July, and had the intake gasket and distributor replaced in June. Now i have really rough ignition, rpms only hit about 1000 once it starts and I have had two misfires, both triggered the engine light but no code. I did get the emission code when I had AZ pull them. Both misfires happened while at high rpm. I was passing another vehicle when they happened so I was really on it. Any ideas? I have searched the forum...but am hoping someone has had a similar issue or a really good idea. Thanx. By the way...it is an 01 Vortec 4wd with 139000 miles.

thats a good start
Id replace the ignition products with delco
these trucks are very picky for ignition products
also this has all the information you need to test the fuel pressure

While I was waiting on payday to get some more stuff to change out, I decided to swap the pump and horn relay.... Best decision I made. The relay must be going bad because the truck started right off without any issue. No chug chug, no hesitation. Hopefully fuel delivery was the cause of the random misfire as well. Just wish it would have thrown a code....

Even if horn works good, what that might mean is there's a bad contact in the fuse block. Just pulling and replacing with same relay might have made it go away for a while.
In a similar {difficult to find and repair} situation a long time ago, I bent the contact in the shape of a 'trough' meaning in a slight 'V' from tip toward the body of the relay. This makes the male contact 'thicker'. smear dielectric grease on it and never saw problem again.
