Question SBC 350 /700R4 Trans

Alright heres what is going on. I took this out of my project jeep. I seperated the transmission from the torque converter/flexplate. I grab the torque converter and i have considerable play within that assembly. My question is should this have no play or is play normal?

What kind of play are we talking about here? In/out, side-to-side/up-down? In/out is normal. There shouldn't really be much, if any side-to-side/up-down play. If there is, that could be a sign of front bushing/pump damage.

it was an all over slop. Well I pulled the converter off to find out the guy that built it didn't properly torque the bolts to spec. all were finger tight. and 2 were over 1/4" unthreaded
