shift problems

Default shift problems

i have an 86 s10 blazer 2.8L auto and lately it doesn't want to drop a gear when i punch it in OD, DR, or 2 is there something i can do to fix that or should i just drop a standard in it right away. i just did a tranny flush and new filter is there something i can do like a shift kit or something i might not be doing. help me out please.

Default RE: shift problems

pull your governor and make sure it isn't sticking.
governor is the round half ball thing ont he drivers side. That cap pops off, however if this is a 4x4 you have to remove the t-case shift linkage first. Once the cap is off the governor slides out. If the wings hang up its sticking.
