Shifter Issue
Today, while my fiance was driving her 2005 Chevy Blazer, it suddenly turned to the right on its own so she hit the brakes hard to avoid an accident. Since then it seems to steer correctly but now the shifter won't move past D. She has to climb a hill to get home and must drop to 3 to climb the hill. When she tries to move the shifter into 3, it won't go. When she tried to force it, it made a grinding like noise but still wouldn't move into 3. She is in California while I am working in Texas and won't be going back to California for another month so I can't look at it. I am going off of her description for this post. Does anyone have any information or suggestions on what can affect the steering and shifter at the same time? They could be independent issues; however, I am not much of a believer in coincidences. Thank you for any help you can provide.
