Default Sluggish Jimmy

Hi everyone, I have a 97 Jimmy 4WD that seems to be very sluggish. It runs and great, gets good mileage but compared to my buddys 96 Blazer mines a turtle.

I know that the tranny fluid is a bit dark and probably could use a change but Im not certain that is my issue. It seems that I have to mash on the gas peddle to get it to move. I took a rubber mallet and hit the Cat to see if the guts collapsed but it dont sound like it. Im just kinda at a loss as to what may cause it to be sluggish and not have the get up and go. Any opinions or ideas would be great. Thanks

I would first compare the gear ratios between the two. Some came with higher gears that will get the engine into it's power range faster. Does he have an aftermarket torque converter? Same applies there as well. Is his 2wd or 4? A little power loss from that. Are you in need of a tune-up or have some of the common fuel injection issues that seem to be common with these engines?
Just start in the front and work your way back comparing what is different and you'll find out why.

TZFBird, thanks for your reply.. That may make sense why his seems quicker than mine. I will check the gear ratio's. As for the rest his is stock like mine. I guess Im not real sure what the issues are with the fuel injection. I also just did a tune up on mine after I had to do the head gaskets!
