Default something is missing?

Ok, rather than spend a lot of time in my useless book trying to find this I'm gong to post here. I went to crank my 1995 4.3 blazer so I could jump the lawn mower. I heard a pop then a light cloud of smoke. I turned it off immediately and looked under the hood. It would appear to me that on the brake master cylinder there is a hose that comes out just left of where you fill the brake fluid that runs to back of intake mani. Where that hose meets the master cylinder is there supposed to be some sort of solenoid or something there? It looks like something is missing in that spot and I found a small indented circular gasket type thingy on the ground that fit right in. I have not found whatever other part was attached and need your help identifying it.... pretty please? any ideas. if my computer were being more friendly today I could post a pic but ... alas, it is not.. so I hope my desciption is good enough. Lastly, but most importantly, once this guy is identified- WHY would he just pop off?!

found out what it was. brake booster vacuum check valve, i think. so why would that blow off? ive been having issues/trying to find cause of no 4th gear and overdrive and wondering if this is somethingto put me on track. On the 95 the neutral/safety brake switch is not in the column, i understand its somewhere near tranny.... likelihood this booster is causing issues back there?

duuuur. it's a 4l60E so my vacuum/line pressure theory of booster to tranny is shot. idk why my brake booster check valve cover blew off but oh well, just something else to fix. answered all my own questions today, so go me!

lol....sorry to hear you had to answer your own questions, but at least you figured it out.

Did it pop off with check valve? or did hose pop off valve? Could be that plastic valve was brittle? Did valve break?

Also, no 4th could be governor issue...or 4th gear clutches are going bad...throwing a few possibilities out there

Aww thanks! Nah just the cover/gromet that caps the valve blew, still not sure why.

I'm going to junk yard Saturday and I will.pick up some solenoids and maybe a booster valve that goes in the tyranny pan.... things to try since my CEL doesn't work!

Chics helping chics fix cars.... gotta love it lol

Ty for reply!

lol...I didn't know you were a girl...lol Cool! really RARE to see/hear about other females working on vehicles. I just posted to see if I could help, I love to, if I can.

Yeah I forgot you said it's a 95... SMH so there are solenoids for shift. That's a good place to start.

The "pop" you heard was probably a backfire, which blew the check valve out. Check the rubber hose, make sure it's not soft, if it is, replace it with a reinforced line, not just vacuum line. Boneyard, dealer, or auto parts store should have the check valve....cheap.
