Spiking RPM'S
#1
Noticed something yesterday while idling down my street. I was idled at around 600rpms and ever couple seconds it would kick up to 800rpms when the alternator would go and I have never noticed this before of it spiking up that much. Could it mean a bad battery connection or something involved in that sense? Or maybe a vacuum line? I want to say it has a bad battery connection somewhere along the way and will look more into it tomorrow. Just need some advice

I'm not sure that what you describe is anything to worry about. If you haven't cleaned your IAC valve you may want to do that to see if it impacts the 'spike'... But the PCM controls idle speed and will ramp it up a bit when it turns on certain accessories. I know that it does this when it engages the A/C compressor.

It spiked up so far it was like I was pressing the gas. Thanks for the reply but I got it fixed now. Ends up a wire that goes on the positive side was barely on the post, hasn't spiked up that far since I fixed it this morning
