Default Squeaky Engine?

The engine seems to run okay but there is a squeaky sound coming from it. Maybe the timing belt? too loose? or oil on the timing belt? Anyone have any ideas?

Your engine has a timing chain, not a belt. The accessory drive belt can and often does squeak on these engines. Have you ever replaced it? I have always had good luck with the goodyear gatorback belts.

Another possibility that has cropped up on here for one other member is a malfunctioning PCV system. PCV = positive crankcase ventilation. If there is a problem with either the PCV valve or the fresh air makeup tube, crankcase pressures can get excessive and cause a squeaking noise.

It is very difficult to see wear on the newer belts. I would replace it and coil up the old one, tossing it in the back of the truck. Never know when a belt will decide to break and it's handy to have another one there with you if it does happen.
