Default Starter problems... i think...

This morning when i started my truck there was a hard scraping noise after is started, kinda sounds like when you turn the key to much..

I took it to autozone to get the starter checked out.

the test came back as low cranking amps

You think thats the problem?

He said my battery was fine tho, its brand new.

Low cranking amps is a measure of the batteries ability to discharge.

Did the sound start after the engine was running? If so, the starter could have stuck engaged into the flexplate gear.

They tested everything, battery came back as good.

starter said low cranking amps, it also said starter amp draw is low with ok starter voltage (check starter circuit for loose or worn wiring.

charging system test came back good too..

BTW this morning i went to go to work..

It wont start....

Swart - Yes it was after it started then it made the scraping noise. kinda like if you was to hold the key down.

But now it wont start at all just makes that ****ty sound and a couple other indescribable noises heh

i dont have the money for this crap right now too this sucks...

Those descriptions kind of conflict IMHO...

If the noise was after the engine started, I would suspect a problem with the starter itself.

Looks like it was the starter.

Replaced it with a brand new one 162$!! bah!

O well tho it had to be done.

All is well now.

Just encase anyone wonders, you will have to loosen the transmission mounts to get it out.
