Default strange conditions for random misfire code

Lately, I have been getting random engine misfire codes thrown while under heavy acceleration (entering highway, cruise control up a hill, or towing) the strange thing, aside from all the ignition parts bring less than a year old, is the fact that I get no buck, no surge, nothing. I get none of the physical attributes of a misfire, just codes, and sometime several in a row so that I have to turn the truck off to clear it. Could this be a faulty crank or cam position sensor? Also, as well as all new ignition, the spider unit was changed in January/February. Any thoughts?
