Default Strange Problem (Will not start)

I'm at my wits end and I really hope someone can help.

I have a 1992 Chevy Blazer Fuel Injected 1500 4x4 with a 5.7 liter V8.

Here is a little background (sorry if I get long winded, I'll try to sum things up as much as I can)

The blazer has around 130k miles on it. I've owned it about 6 months now. I bought it for my daughter's first car. (she likes big trucks)

When I bought it, it ran just fine. We drove it a little around town once a week, etc. She just turned 16 last month so I wanted to have it looked over by a mechanic and have a tune up, etc. before she took it over full time and started driving it daily.

Last week, 2 days before the mobile mechanic was due to come over, I purchased a can of engine cleaner and sprayed it on the engine and the compartment. Followed the instructions and used a water hose and rinsed it off for about 1 minute or 2. She fired right up and I took it around the block to dry it off inside. It idled high I noticed around the block. I returned home and shut her off and tried to restart. No luck. Tried several times and still no luck.

The morning of the mechanic arrival I reached in and tried to start it....it started right up. I let it idle for a few seconds as I was on my way to work..so I turned her off.

That afternoon, the mechanic came over. He has done the following:

oil change (oil was really thick and dirty)
oil filter
new plugs
new plug wires
new rotor
new dist. cap
new fuel pump
new fuel filter
new fuel relay switch
new oil pressure sensor
new ignition module
all fuses are good and tested good
engine & grounds are good under the hood

He has checked the fuel pump twice. (A pain dropping the gas tank twice). It "hums" when the ignition turns on for a few seconds.

It is getting fire everywhere under the hood. He checked everything he can think of.

THERE IS NO PULSE at the fuel injectors.

It will run FINE with a squirt of ether. Seems as if the shot of ether gives it enough to initially start and it will then stay running.

With the ether, the injector light up with the noid light he uses to test them. Without the ether the noid light does not come on or blink at all.

Without the ether, it will just turn over and over but has never started since the morning I tried it. It has now been 3 days since all of this work has been done.

I'm running out of money and my mechanic is running out of options and ideas.

Do you see anything we may be missing?

COINCIDENCE: This all happened right after I did the degreaser/engine clean. That was the LAST time it ran. Prior to that, she ran great and smooth as a dream.

I really, really appreciate any help on this. My daughter wants to drive to school instead of her Dad dropping her off.

have you checked the electrical connection to the injectors themselves? or taken them off and cleaned them with carb cleaner?

Update: I changed out the Throttle Position sensor and that did the trick. Thanks for the assistance.
