wow, this is the first time i've ever heard of anyone having issues with the side bolts before.
just use a few 12" extensions, and go @ it from the rear of the trans.
that's how i do all of the bellhousing bolts.

see ive never taken an engine out of such a small truck im used to the big full size where i can set my skinny friends on top of the tranny and get them to take the bolts out for me lol just wondering if there was any tricks the skinny kid across the street ant strong enough to turn the bolts lol

To get the top two you may have to drop the trans xmember and drop the tail shaft a little. Some have loosened the body and raised it up.

i got the top 2 and the 3 or 4 that bolt into the oil pan so all left now is the 2 on the sides of the circle and this engine is out and ill stop being so pisseed lol time to go try again and see if i can get my fat hands in there

Do what old skool luvr said. Put several extensions together. This is how I do it, plus I put a swivel or knuckle or whatever you call it right behind the socket so that you can get the correct attitude on the nut. Best of luck.

LOL I once rednecked it and used several extensions and impact swivels..... and an impact wrench.....wouldn't reccomend it but ya extensions in this case is the only way to go even for a skinny kid like me

When I replaced my engine I ended up removing the trans cross member and suporting the trans with a floor jack while I lowered the engine and trans assy. This way I was able to get at all the bell housing bolts.
