Question Tansmission problems

I have had a new tranny put in my 97 blazer 4x4 4dr once already. But when i put that one in a few months later my tranny started to go out but the only thing is drive and 3rd are the only ones that went out i still have 1 and 2 but when i go to put it in drive or 3rd all it does is act like its in neutral and i've been told it could many diff things. I was just posting this to see if anyone else has had this problem with their tranny and to see if you could explain to me what is wrong.

When you say new tranny as in new one ,no miles or one from a Salvage yard ? Or a Rebuilt one ? What are miles on this Replacement Transmission? Need Info from you to help.

Unfortunately, the aluminum pump used in this style of tranny is garbage so it makes it one big pile of ****. They are notoriously problematic.

Well there are some problems but , It is how you drive, tow, and ect,,, Heat is the Killer. But you have to maintain the Transmission . I have seen these Trans go over 200+ Thousand miles.

Very true, but in general, they are lemons. Go to your local tranny shop and ask them. I am not saying you can't get a long useful life out of it, but more often than not, they fail prematurely. Who had the 300 thousand miles on theirs? That is incredible! Like you said, regular fluid changes, light loads, and cool oil are key to long tranny life.

Lemons? hummmm here we go, Debate, I see it coming. does everyone fell this Way ? Tranny shop will tell you with proper maintenance a tranny should last as long as the Vehicle it is in. But Hey this is A forum. We all Have input here Both good and Bad. Thank you all, this is A GREAT Forum and Great People with a Wealth of Knowledge. T.J

(But we need to stay on course with the problem that TROBBINS first post and help him. then Debate Later on lemons).
