Throttle Body Cleaning...
Hey guys, My 95 Blazer dosen't have a stock air box so I am going to be putting on a CAI but first I want to clean the throttle body considering it is blacker than night. I've never done a TB cleaning so I was wondering what I should buy, and how do you go about doing this.
Good news tho I did get my CD Player installed, and my CB Radio, finally she is starting to look nice on the inside anyway =D.
Thanks in advance
-Joe

Well Joe, All I can tell you is how I went about it...
I just blasted it with Carb Cleaner while polishing off the crap with a Dremel tool hooked up to a BRASS i.e. non-sparking brush. A brush, not the wheel. Spray, polish, repeat. Once she shines like new, start the engine. Slowly pour a bottle of SEAFOAM into the throttle body. I suggest the Seafoam because if your throttle body was black, then it would make sense that the rest of your engine could use a scrub down. I would do 2/3rds slowly, then pour the last 3rd in and let the engine die, wait 15 minutes or so, and fire it up. Go for a quick spin around the block until the smoke clears and it will be good as new (ish).
Or watch this boring *** video to see another way of going about it. hell do both... G/L let us know how it goes or how you go about it.

I removed mine from the intake and bought a carb cleaner solvent from NAPA, (Can with a basket) Took off all the electrical pieces and soaked the metal parts and using brushes and the solvent scrubbed all the metal parts. Made sure all the ports were cleaned out. Re-assembled the TBI and re-installed on the manifold. Solvent is very strong, use rubber gloves and outside. At the same time i purchased a rebuild kit and put in new gaskets where required and new spring and diaphram for the pressure regulator.
