Default Torque converter

I need a torque converter for my 94 jimmy I have no idea which one to get I know nothing about torque converters. Rock auto lists 4 2 are lockup type one says 1654 Stall, 30 Spline, 3 Mounting Pads, Carbon Clutch and the other says 2075 Stall Woven Clutch 30 Spline; General Motors trans. I don't do much off roading with it mostly highway it is a 4x4 I do have to climb a 7% grade with it on the highway. It is just stock 4.3L

Any help would be appreciated

All torque converters for a 1994 will be lock up type converters. There will be a 4 character code on a tag on your factory converter (such as the DCNF converter in my 2001 Blazer). Don't use the wrong clutch material, as some converters are made to slip slightly all the time to soften up TCC application and this takes a different material to survive the heat generated.

good luck and best wishes for a successful repair. I'm curious why you are replacing it. Anyone replacing a torque converter on a 4L60E should read this - there are at least several types of TCC linings, depending on the type of control: no PWM, PWM, or PWM/EC3. 1994 is just around the time that PWM control started. My 2001 is PWM/EC3.

  • C -- 200C, 2004R, Pre-1984 1/2: 325-4L & 700r4
  • D -- 1984 1/2-up 700r4, 4L60, 4L60-E
2nd Digit (approx stall, depends on engine)
  • B -- 2025 rpm
  • C -- 2075 rpm
  • E -- 1654 rpm
  • F -- 1611 rpm
  • G -- 1397 rpm
  • H -- 1397 rpm
  • K -- 1211 rpm
  • L -- 1654 rpm
3rd Digit (Clutch Assembly)
  • 3 -- Poppet Valve
  • 7 -- Poppet Valve
  • 9 -- Poppet Valve
  • A -- Red (pre-96)
  • A -- Carbon (96-up)
  • B -- Static Open
  • G -- Carbon Fiber
  • H -- Red (pre-96)
  • H -- Carbon (96-97)
  • H -- Woven Graphite (98-up)
  • L -- Carbon Fiber
  • N -- Woven Graphite
  • P -- Woven Graphite
4th Digit (Body Mounting)
  • C -- 3 round lugs, gas engine
  • D -- 3 round lugs, diesel engine
  • E -- 6 round lugs, gas or diesel
  • F -- 3 square pads, gas or diesel

Rebuilding my transmission. It was recommended that I replace the torque converter.

It was good advice! Also don't forget to back flush the trans cooler and lines - get all that junk flushed out..
