Default Torque Converter or what?

'04 4x4 Blazer. Having an issue after I drive around town that's fairly difficult to describe. From idle or any lengthy stretch driving at low rpm's, truck will make a loud revving noise at any rpm until I get down the road a ways. Sounds almost identical to a big rig motor. When it does it from say a stop light, I notice I lose power and it hesitates actually getting in gear. No grinding or vibrations, just the big rig sound. Will also make the noise in park once it starts (and sometimes when I start the truck up regardless of engine/transmission temp). Anyone had to deal with this issue before? And how difficult is pulling the tranny?

Check the clutch on your fan first - if its seized up it'll roar pretty loud - should be slight resistance when you move it by hand (engine off/cold) If it's hard or impossible to move by hand OR spins freely I'd start by replacing it first

Thanks man. Guessing the clutch might be holding up the belt and robbing power?

Thanks to both of you. I was finally able to get ahold of my dad, who's been a mechanic going on 30 years now, and that was the first thing he said too. Apparently the clutch has some grips in it that expand and grab the shaft as the oil inside heats up, or something to that effect. Listening to him describe it, you'd think he was talking about his old lady.

*Update*

apparently my truck is having trouble keeping up with the a/c, as the fan will only engage while my compressor is running. flushed and backflushed my radiator. nasty. thermostat is coming open just fine. getting colder outside so not having to use my a/c, but still wondering what the math is up here. a/c condenser maybe?

don't know how to do wiring. if someone had some pictures showing EXACTLY where I run the wires and then explain it, then maybe. have absolutely no experience with electrical.

was looking at that. doesn't seem that difficult now that I've seen the diagrams and done a buttload of homework.
