Default Tranny Fluid Everywhere!!

Hey Guys! Everything has been pretty smooth sail'n with my 2002 LS, 4dr, 4WD, 4.3 vortec Blazer. However, hauled a load 600miles roundtrip this weekend and got real nervous. I was haul'n a trailer/load around 2000lbs and stopped for fuel 190miles in to the trip when I happened to notice an oily film all over my back windsheid. I looked under the truck and found the undercarriage COVERED AND DRIPPING of fresh red tranny fluid. I had check the level pre-trip and I had apparently overfilled it about 6 months ago when I replaced the radiator since the level, hot and idling, was well into the coiled part of the dipstick. I didn't worry too much about it before leaving. Anyway, I continued on the trip, checking the underside of the truck each time I stopped for gas and the amount spilled onto the undercarriage seemed to reduce quite a bit the more I drove. At the last fuel stop, the level was showing still about 1/2 an inch above the "max-hot" line of the dipstick. I was driving in 3rd gear since I was towing a trailer and I don't have a designated aux. cooler (atleast I don't think I do). My question is whether or not this was just probably heated/hot fluid "venting" because it was initially overfilled, or should I worry about something else??

Well see that there is your problem lol. Oil will expand quite abit when it gets realy hot, my two cents would be to replace the tranny filter and flush the tranny fluid and fill it to the reccomended level, be sure to get the oil that's in the radiator out also, if you have damaged anything (not saying you did) you more then likely see metal shavings or at least alot of them to say in the oil when you drain it. If that is the case then you will have to do other things........But being optimistic is always best
