I wish I could present this in a short form, but nope.. So I have this 98 GMC Jimmy 4x4 that I got running again after sitting for 2 years unable to start.. I went through and replaced entire distribution system and ,outside of replacing the spider injectors, replaced fuel system parts.. After finally getting my head right ,cleared the air from the fuel lines and finally got it to fire up and idle.. At that time it would actually engage all gears.. Only thing was my headlights would not come on.. I only had parking lights.. Lacking any real knowledge other then knowing a few tweaks and loopholes I could escape with implementing temporarily I rearranged my relays in my fuse block which resolved my lighting issue but, and I realize this could be coincidental, seemingly had my gearing now being locked in between 2 and 4 wheel drive I believe and not wanting to go into 3rd gear.. Someone else at some point laid hands into my engine and moved vacc lines around which resolved the 2ndand4wheel issue but not the gearing issue.. After inspecting the engine again I realized they had connected a vacc line to my line that sits next to the tranny dip and of course I grasped the gravity of what's now happened.. All fluid sucked from the transmission(still no idea where it exited)I replaced fluid and continued to try to resolve what I am hoping is an easy problem to solve and not the expensive one.. After dealing with being trapped to 2nd gear for quite a while now it is no longer stuck not going in 3rd.. Now it maintains being stuck in 1st gear only.. The vehicle isn't worth taking to the dealership to pay the outrageous costs of labor for dropping the pan and replacing the filter and doing a general inspect and putting new fluid in.. But I'm hoping someone can tell me, other then I'm an idiot and don't need to try to mess with it anymore cause I sound like a complete idiot, before putting that much more money into it if I'm wasting my time.. Oh, and this entire time(connecting obd2)no codes are being thrown, so I'm getting no place to have an idea where to begin my examinations.. Any thoughts appreciated, even if it is that I'm a complete idiot.. I'm a very poor idiot doing the best I can..
