Default Tranny problem with a 1996 Blazer

I am having a problem with the tranny in my 1996 blazer. It started skipping gears in overdrive and 1st gear, but would only do it after about 20 miles of driving. Now I have no 1st or over drive at all. I took it to a tranny shop and the first guy said it needed a new tranny in it. Same shop differnt day another guy said it was a shifting soliond (misspelled). The fuild does not smell burnt, and is bright red, just like when I put it in. My question is could it be the torque converter? That was the only thing that was not replaced when I had the tranny put in less then 5000 miles ago. I did not know that it was not replaced until I started talking to the shop about it, that did the work.

It is also giving me a tranny slip on the computer, but I do not know what the code is. The auto parts around do not read them for you, and the only place that does charges like $60 just to hook it up.

i dont know if a torqe converter is the problem but i would replace it anyway. it sounds like it might be a fluid pressure switch. you will have to drop the pan and the pressure switch will be right their on top of the valve body. it kinda looks like a small computer board.
