First verify engine vacuum to the front axle engagement actuator located under the battery tray. If you have vacuum there, then I'd bet that the actuator has failed in some way (cracked diaphram, frozen cable, etc).

HI,Thanks for helping,
So you are saying that even if I hear it engaged there can be a vacuum problem.
I will look at it right now.
I am in Vermont we had snow today....already...

Thanks

HI, I checked the actuator today, It looks like it is working but when I put it in 4HI I can still push the cablein by hand about 1/4 in the actuator. So I am wondering if the actuator is not strong enough to pull on the cable completely. Is it possible?
How to tell if the 4x4 work other than trying it in snow?

Thanks
AJ
