Default trans problems

I have a 1997 chevy blazer 4wd, somethings going on with the transmission. I have no forward gears, but reverse works. I have no idea what model transmission is in it. any help would be greatly appreciated. how hard is it to rebuild this... I am pretty handy with tools and have diagnosed engine probs before...but never worked on a transmission

Sounds like its time for a new transmision. Its probably going to be easier, cheaper, and faster to go to a yard and pick one up.

Edit: I know that doesn't answer your question but a transmision is a very complex thing and I wouldn't attempt a rebuild on your own unless you have a lot of time to do it. Most people just find a new one and swap them out. Maybe then you can take your time and rebuild yours and sell it to recoup your money.

Thanks for the reply!
Any idea what model transmission I have? Is it the 4L60-E? I just found this page on wikipedia...said that this transmission was used in 1997 model year. That`s info i need to start a search for a yard transmission. Rest of truck is in great shape...swapped out the csfi with the mpfi changeover kit from GM this past March, (only other big problem I`ve had)..engine runs great...(22mpg )...it has served my family well and I don`t want another vehicle. It`s MY truck..lol
