Default trans shifting issues

hey folks, i got me a 99 blazer 4wd. i recently drowned the poor thing in a creek bottom and after 2 straight weeks of clean up and replacing damaged parts i now have a shifting problem. when in park it shifts extremely hard into reverse and drive and when driving it doesn't wanna seem to come out of 2nd gear. im quite sure i am gonna have to drain and fill my fluid and change out my filter. any other ideas what i can do to help the shift problem other then a complete overhaul(just did that 2 years ago)?? would appreciate any insight.

Do you get a check engine light?Check the level of the fluid and also smell it.Drain old fluid, change filter fill with new.

I would look into checking out the 2cnd gear shifting cylinoid in the bottom of the trans. Also scan the code and find out if its from the trans or another sensor.

need to be sure there is no water in the fluid as there is a vent on top of the trans most have hoses ran to higher parts of the vehicle but not all

so fluid is drained and replaced along with new filter. i am still having the shifting issue though. been asking around and a few people have said either my torque converter or a modulator valve. does anyone know if 1 do i have to drop the trans to get to that torque converter and 2 does the 4l60e have a modulator valve and if so then where might it be at?

Yes you have to completely drop the trans to remove the TC .Im not aware of this model trans having a modulator valve but if it does its internal.I can find out later for you today,Im going to my transman to get line presure boost valve..

The 4l60e does not have a modulator. My advice is to buy a transgo shift kit and have it installed. It will usualy fix most shifting problems. This is what Im going to do.
