Is your 4x4 working OK, think positive it could be an 18 dollar vaccum switch. Like I said there are other places that fluid can go. If you got it in time your tranny might not be burned up. Investigate! Dropped a car of at a shop once, by time I got home there was a message on the machine that I needed a new tranny. Went back and saw the car had not moved! That was a long time ago, Datsun B 210. Modulator valve. Oh yea, put fluid in it and drove it some place else.

Mine just developed a slip as well. I dropped the pan, changed the fuild and filter, and put in a bottle of Lucas. It seemed to help a little but every now and then it still slips a little. I am not going to worry about it right now and will continue to drive it until it goes. I have a guy locally that will rebuild it for CHEAP so I will just do that when the time comes.

The only thing about buying a tranny from a junkyard or someone else is you have no idea how it has been treated and could be looking at another rebuild rather quickly.

Yeah I hope its just something small and I can throw some lucas in there just so I can start saving money my uncle is a certified auto machanic he said he will install it for 400 and that's just labor but there's a tranny shop by my house I'm goin to call when I'm at work today I'm driving the company I work for truck. So there's a upside to the story I don't have to pay for any gas lol.

my blazer did that a few years ago, and I took it to a transmission shop and they put an electronic servo on it. that took care of the problem.

Default Fix Fixed solve solved

Ok unsure how this relates to anyone in particular. I searched and searched for an answer with nothing to guide me. I am a mechanic but not too experienced with transmissions. So this truck is a 05 Chevy avalanche 2wd. Car drove fine hit all gears under heavy/light load did not matter. Roughly after 5 minutes it would slip, rev, and you would just coast to a stop. And repeat! So I am in a very tight budget so this is exactly what I did and received successful results. First I disconnected the battery overnight (just in case the computer needed to re-learn driving conditions) next I used a hand-siphon pump (down the dipstick tube) to remove apx 3.5 qts. (So when I crack the pan fluid would not go everywhere due to no drain plug in pan) Fluid was terrible shape. Next I cleaned pan magnets removed filter. Then I removed shift solenoids and transmission control solenoids. I sprayed sensor cleaner in the ports and crevices of the valve body. Next I ohm’d out the shift solenoids (21.2) in each when spec is 20-30 ohms. Next was control solenoids could not find spec. So I bought one and ohmed it out they were within .1 so I assumed all was good. (Returned for $ back) replaced all o rings on solenoids reinstalled solenoids new filter gasket and pan. I filled with fluid substituted 2qts with Lucas trans fix let it idle 30 min frequently going through all the gears. Reached op temp and correct level. Went for test drive initially heard clicking from torque converter and felt a distinct hesitation during shifts..... drove lightly then drove harder followed by freeway driving an hour later transmission shifts like brand new! So total cost was $102 parts fluid filter gasket and o rings...... like I said I’m not a transmission specialist nor do I have extra money on random parts..... it’s been 1000 miles and still like new.... I hope this helps I know this process is similar to Tahoe Yukon Denali Escalade Silverado Sierra avalanche camaro firebird gto and possibly many more
