so my youngest brother has run into an issue with his '94 T15 Jimmy.
the trans has gone to the crapper!
he called me last night, and told me that his truck hardly moved from a stop on his way home from work last night. once it got going, he was able to get it home without a tow (about 7 miles or so).
the question i have is, will the trans fit from a '98 to his '94?
a little history..............he found a parts truck that he bought the rear disk brake diff out of (he's gonna convert his drums to disc, and yes it's the same ratio), and the guy has the trans stll. i ran both his VIN (for the '94) and the parts truck VIN ('98), and found that both trucks have the same M30 RPO code for the 4L60E tansmission.
is there anything that the RPO might not tell me, that i should be aware of? electrical issue? wiring connector issue? anything at all?
as far as i've researched on this, it's a good-to-go swap. but i figured it's always better to triple check something like this, 'cause it sure would suck spending the $$$ on something that wouldn't work.
thanks guys ('n gals too!)

I have not swapped a trans between vehicles before(rebuilt them though). But as long as it's a 4L60E you should be fine. I'd at least pull the pans and make sure you have the same sensors/solonoids in the valvebody. Those would be the only thing that may possibly change. Any hardparts would just be a bonus. I think some came with better parts as time progressed. Shift points are all controlled by the ECM and there is no governor to worry about.

yeah, i was aware of all that, so it sounds like we're looking good.

well, this was not needed after all. but @ least i got to do some more research on our trucks.
i'll tell ya why in a sec, but to answer my original question......................i finally talked to my trans specialist friend, and he said they'll be fine to swap. no issues.
really don't know why i never asked him in the first palce. especially since i've known him for 15 years.
