Default Transfer Case Housing Leak

99 Blazer, 288k miles. NP236 TCase.

I have been monitoring a leak of auto-trac fluid from the TCase over the last yr and it seems like it is getting worse, I checked and topped off fluid before a recent 500 mile road trip and had to add 6 oz when I got home.

I am wondering if it could be patched or do I need to find another housing or go for rebuilt tcase?

Searching the forum, I see lots of discussion about the pin hole leak in the rear case and the cause being mechanical wear. However... no reports of the front case becoming porous (I believe this is true in my situation)

Anyone experienced this specific problem?

If so, did you rebuild TC or buy a rebuilt?

For those who bought a rebuilt TC, are you satisfied with the rebuild? No leaks, etc..

I found a company offering a rebuilt TC with rear case modification for $850 which includes shipping and return of my old core. Am thinking this is a fair price.
