Hey guys great forum,

I just recently bought a 1997 blazer 4x4. When I first bought the 4x4 would engage and disengage fine, but now that I have had it for a few days I noticed a leak coming from what I think is the T-case. I would like to know where I check the oil level on it. Is it mixed with the AT dipstick or does it have it's own dipstick? Thanks any help would be appreciated.

 

There will be two plugs on the back of the transfer case. The lower one is the drain plug and the upper one is the fill plug. The level should be just below the plug with the truck sitting level.

What you have in the t-case for fluid depends on the t-case. You most likely have the NV233 transfer case as I do not believe that the NV236 was an option and because you state that the 4x4 would engage and disengage fine, it doesn't sound like you have the full time awd transfer case. If that is the case, then your transfer case uses regular Dexron III ATF.
