all automatic blazer transmissions from 95-00 are the same, i believe, thats what i have been told, as long as it out of a blazer with the same drive train as yours (as in 4-wd or 2-wd)

That is not entirely correct. While they are all 4L60E's, they are not all the same. '95 had some changes that occurred part way through the year in the way that the TCC (torque converter clutch) actuated. If the pump cover (behind the torque converter) has the letters 'PWM' on it, then you could use it in a '96 thru early-'97 application. I still advise to go newer and not older though as other improvements have been made that are backwards compatible.

Sometime in '97 GM changed to a two piece bell housing to allow the transmission to mate up with the new LS series engines. If you are not afraid of a little fab work to create a new dust shield, then a late-'97+ 4L60E w/ a 2-piece housing will work. To make a dust shield, use your current dust shield as a template for the starter cutout location & the cutout around the pan. Then make ears for the bolts on the trans adapter that would have had bolts into the cast aluminum oil pan.

One other thing worth mentioning is that it was sometime in '97 that the bolt pattern at the back of the transmission changed from a 4-bolt pattern to a 6-bolt pattern. If you find a trans with the opposite pattern, you will need to get an adapter from the donor vehicle provided it has the same transfer case as your truck.
