Default Transmission funeral Saturday at 2pm

Earlier in the month I asked about a mystery leak underneath my 93 Jimmy. I couldn't pinpoint the leak myself so I took it over to the local mechanic and had him look at it. He replaced the front pump seal and the TC bushing and the leak got worse. Previously it was intermittent only when the transmission was really warm. Now it constantly drips fluid. The shop was very professional about the whole thing; they only charged me for a couple hours of labor since the leak got worse.

I took the Jimmy over to my local hot rod transmission rebuilders and they had a look at it. It's toast. They quoted me $1800 for a heavy-duty rebuild on my 4L60E but that's almost twice what I paid for the rig in the beginning. I don't want to put out that kind of money for this rig so now I'm looking at a low-mileage 4L60E and transfer case from a wrecked '96 Blazer. Will it work in my '93 Jimmy? More importantly, will the transfer case work? My Jimmy has the electronically-shifted transfer case (NP 233?).

Please share your collected wisdom.
