Default Transmission is getting really hot?

So I made a trip out of town with my 96 blazer and after driving for 30 or so minutes I noticed that my feet seamed really warm. I didnt have heater on since its summer I dont use ac I use windows but I put my hand down by my feet and it was noticably hotter when I put my hand on the floor board it was hot to the touch. well I got to my desitnation shortly after I pulled the transmission dipstick and it was really hot I couldnt hold it with out a towel. I got underneath it and touched the tranny for a moment and it burnt my hand, I dont have a temp sesnor thing but I am thinking that this is way to hot am I right?

When you pulled the dipstick was the fluid bubbly?

I've had it get that hot, like what you are talking about. I've been having similar issues and installed a temp gauge, I pulled over when it got to 250 and it still wasnt as hot as that. My understanding is the temp should be around 175
