Thanks looking at a replacement probably. A friend of mine owns a salvage yard and thinks he has a couple low milage ones. Good thing is that this is a 2nd car and is only driven once a week or so. I also added the Lucas slip fix additive when I refilled it.. I hope to get to spring beofre I have to deal with the issue again..

well starting to lean towards a replacement tranny... went for a real drive today and it wants to rev up instead of going into 3nd. If I let off the gas it shifts in correctly and downshifts are fine, I been researching this and see that it could be that the new solenoid that I put in is bad or that the filter never set correctly.. pain in the *** and I will pull the pan and look this weekend, but not sure if there is anything else to look at.. but I am finding mostly this "When the 4l60 trans shifts from 1st to 2nd and then when it tries to go to 3rd the engine just revs up, the 3-4 clutch has failed and the trans needs to be rebuilt. Sorry." which sucks and will = blazer sitting for sometime..

Just guessing here but if it shifts fine manually without letting off the gas you may have a small partial sludge plug off in the valve body.
You could prob get by for awhile driving it around and manually shifting till a transplant trans is located but for this one the clutch packs are past worn and damage is already done.

thanks.. thought of pulling and installing it myself but not sure what I would be getting into. I would be working with it on jack stands... if it wasn't the big of a deal, changed the tranny on my Mazda 626 in much worse conditions, I could get it rebuilt for 450

Well, seeing that I have a 2nd car and time I have decided to give this a go at doing it myself. Pulling and installing the tranny myself will same me over 500... any "watch outs" that I should know of.. thanks
