wow, picked up a used tranny for $250. Has 98k on it and it was out of a running 99 that blew the motor... I should have the old one out this weekend.. starter and cross pipe is left.. then start the reverse process after I change out the new parts that I put in the old one... ugh thnk that my boat is what blew it. Never figured into the towing the hilss and crap around here.. let it come in and out of OD with a 4.300 lb boat setup... which leaves me what's next sell the blazer or the boat or both and just get a kayak

Sounds like a good deal. Make sure you flush the cooler lines before installing the other transmission. Blow compressed air in one line and then the other at minimum. The best would be to use a can of cooler flush to make certain the debris are gone. As far as towing just tow in 3rd gear and add a good plate type external cooler in addition to the factory cooler in the radiator. Good luck

updates... been a trip but about 85% done. Ended up replacing the waterpump, added some PIAA fog lights at the same time plus a few other things still have to install the tranny dipstick if I can figure out how to snake it into place, passanger wheel well and all the parts that bolt to it and then get all the fluids replace and try it out..

need the trick on threading the dipstick in.. tried threading it through over and over again and cannot get it correct. The bolt on it was not connected when I pulled the tranny and it fell out.. Not sure what bolt I should be trying to allign the bracket to..

Yeah the dipstick can make a Saint cuss at times! It will go back in from the bottom while on a lift but not on the ground on jack stands. If you can double check the marks on the flexible stick by taking the pan off with the stick installed and look at the mark. Should be in line with the pan rail, the bottom of the case wher pan bolts to. Have seen several street rod guys using the Lokar flex tube get over and under fills after installing. May want to confirm marks. Good luck.
