Default Transmission in limp mode, no codes

I have a 1997 Blazer 4wd, 4dr. Recently, intermittently, the transmission will work fine for a couple minutes, then drop into limp mode (2nd gear, and only 2nd gear - doesn't shift up or down). Engine light stays off, gauges all read normal, no codes. I've checked the wiring, unplugged and replugged the electrical connections. No avail. I had this on a Chrysler van a number of years back, and we ended up replacing the computer. Any other suggestions short of replacing the computer/transmission?

Thanks in advance.

Is this the 4L60E transmission? This is what comes from the factory, but you said it was in a Chrysler. This could be any number of things. Shift solenoids sticking, valve body check ***** stuck, a seal or gasket somewhere is worn. I would start simple and change the fluid, filter and pan gasket. Try to take it to a garage that will change all the fluid, including the torque converter. Without the machine to suck out converter fluid, your only going to get about half of the fluid. If you can get your hands on Lubegard, put that it in there. This lowers trans temp and can unstick solenoids and valves. Do NOT use slick 50 or anything else. They make things worse.

Yes, it's the stock transmission. I was just comparing the issues I'm having with one's I had with an old Chrysler I had several years ago. I had the fluid changed a few months ago at the chev dealership complete change with filter. I've had a sticky valve when shifting from first to second when the tranny heats up (half hour of driving) since I got the truck. I don't know if this is related or not. Today, the tranny stuttered before going into limp. I'll see if I can get some lubegard and suck some fluid out and replace it. Thanks for the suggestion.
