Default Transmission rebuild cost??

2000 S-10 Blazer 4x4 (250k miles) tranny went south last night. Trying to get a ballpark idea what a rebuild costs. Central California.

I love this car and until now have not had any problems with it outside of normal things that wear out. I stay on top of maintenance.

Thanks!

I have a friend with an s-10 pickup whose transmission went out, it was a 2wd truck but the remanufactured transmission that was put in cost close to $2000. A rebuilt transmission would cost less than or equal to the price of the remanufactured one.

If you pull the trans yourself should only be around 800

I'll just get ready to bend over, I guess. There's no getting away from it...

It's my fault too, as it happens. I checked the fluid (duh) and was able to add a full quart of fluid and it was still not hitting the "hot" marker on the dip stick. Dumb-*** me.

I think you can rebuild your transmission on your own as many kits are available in the market. Also much of the information are readily available online, check some youtube videos for help. And still if you don't know what to do, there are many Automobile transmission rebuilding Cucamonga, CA service stations , visit them.

Find the online manuals take pictures as your tear down the trans before rebuilding get the kit and do it your self. The most difficult thing is installing a shift kit.Thats what stumped me and I had to have help.
