Default TRANSMISSION TICKING

I have a 96 blazer 4.3 4x4 w/auto transmission, 130,000 miles and it has a loud ticking almost a knock sound coming from it. It shifts slowly into each gear and when it warms up to operating temp it out of over drive into drive untill i let off the gas, goes back into overdrive and the after a few seconds it slips back out of overdrive. ANNOYING!! I changed to thermostat because it wouldn't let the engine and transmission get to operating temp and the problem stoped for a day, then started again the next day. The fluid level is full and pretty clean. Did a flush and filter about a year ago. The problem started about 6 months ago. Could the transmisson be overheating? The ticking concerns me... Trying to decide if I should try and fix it or sell it as is. ANY SUGGESTIONS TO WHAT COULD BE THE PROBLEM FOR THE TICKING AND THE POOR TRANSMISSION BEHAVIOR WOULD BE APPRECIATED!

THANKS!!

I also read a previous post about how a bad MAFS can cause the transmission to act up. A couple years ago I replaced the MAFS with one from a 98 blazer and mine is a 96. Are they the same or can this be part of the reason for my tranny problem? Anyone???

They are the same. I can't imagine a mAF sensor causing the transmission to make a ticking noise though...
