Default RE: transmission woes

If the engine is running when you checked, but the transmission is cold, then you are over full.

A trans shop will probably look at the CVI (clutch volume indexes) and assess the health of the transmission. Torque converter diagnosis can also be performed by driving the truck with a diagnostic tool connected. My scan tool can force the torque converter to unlock for diagnosis. When the torque converter unlocks, there should be a corresponding increase in RPM. If that doesn't happen, then there is something amiss in the control of the torque converter.

sometimes i just dont understand cars

so the transmission or torque converter issue showed up last sunday night
i left it in the carport and carpooled w/ my fiancee for the week
called a local shop, asked them what they thought, they said to bring it in, they would diagnose it for free. and that a torque converter shouldnt fail after 25-30k and that it should have been replaced when the transmission was

called the place that i rebuilt the transmission, i asked them if they had replaced the torque converter when they replaced it. they said that even thought it was not on the paperwork, unless it looked "new" when they rebuilt the transmission that they would have replaced the torque converter. they were very defensive that their work should not have failed but would not say anything until they knew that the "failure was"

i took my car into a shop this morning
driving it had none of the problems that i did the other morning, no decreased gas peddle resistance, no shake, no problems.
