Default Transmission wont go into Reverse?

Hi all. Yesterday I changed both my transmission filter and fluid in my 98 Chevy Blazer 4x4 V6. I removed the pan drained, cleaned installed new filter and put new fluid in the car and used the correct ones that the manual said to use. Problem is no that it wont go into reverse, can get it to go into reverse but will go into drive and work. I had trouble getting the arm that is attached to the pan back on and that is now loose as I couldnt get it to tighten properly, anyone that has ever changed there's may have had this problem too. Anyone know what the problem could be with my car? Thanks!

I should add that I get it into reverse gear it just wont back up like it is in park. Yet it will go forward.

Sounds like you have a problem with the shift cable adjustment.

This should help you get it back into proper adjustment --> gear shift linkage

Scroll down to my last reply.

Before you do that though, you have to make sure that the bracket that holds the shift cable is securely attached to the transmission.
