Default troubles with my '94 4.3L blazer.

my 94 blazer has been having trouble lately. when i go to start it ill have to crank the ignition 2-3 times before it'll start. then while im accelerating in 1st gear it will speed up real slowly and sputter and shake almost like its having trouble getting into 2nd gear. and sometimes ill notice a bit of smoke coming out of the exhaust. 1st gear is really the only gear this seems to happen in. also, when im stopped at a red light or something and on my brakes my truck will shake a lot and sputter but if im in park it doesnt seem to. any help or opinions would be appreciated

Start by testing your fuel pressure, specifically, how fast it bleeds down after the pump shuts off.
