Alright so as a disclaimer i just barely started working on vehicles myself due to lack of money so keep car terms simple because my knowledge is limited
. Anyway I own a 1983 chevy blazer, it has a 350 engine that was completely rebuilt last summer. It ran fine other than the fact that after I shut it off it would sit there and 'rumble" for about 15 seconds then it would throttle up and finally shut off. I was told that the fuel was possibly running too rich and that i needed to re-jet my carbeurater. I did that and the only thing that changed was it started idleing way too low. Now about two weeks later it won't start period. It turns over and acts like its gonna start but doesn't. Any ideas? I'm really getting sick of walking everywhere lol

after you adjusted your carbeurator did you adjust it back? now to keep it simple like you asked you need to check for the major 3 when in a no start situation is it getting air, is it getting fuel, and lastly is it getting spark? look for all of these also when you go to crank on it is it a strong crank or weak crank? just a few questions to get the diagnostic started. let us know and then we can go from there.

Sounds like engine run-on, a.k.a. dieseling. Here's a link to an article from an MG site that explains the possible causes in pretty clear language. See if any of them might apply to your engine and let us know if you need more info.

In response to your first question, I have not readjusted the carb. It's definitely getting air and fuel, spark i'm not so sure about. the crank is very strong, like i said it sounds like it would start up if you just choked it a little but that doesn't work.

well if the motor is turning over you can pretty much figure your starter is good. I would start by checking the coil and see if that is putting out power. If not replace the coil.

Pop the distributor cap and see if the rotor spins with the engine when cranked?
