Default Truck won't start...fuel issue?

So the truck has seemed to have some "issues" cranking over this winter, particularly on cold mornings. It cranks and cranks but takes a few second to actually turn over.

Fast forward to today. I came out of work to hit the gym on my lunch break and the damn thing wouldnt start. It wanted to, but just wouldn't come to life. I let it sit for a minute, gave it some gas and it started. Drove to the gym, had a workout and came back with no issues.

Come 5:00 I try to start it and it does it again, only this time feathering the gas pedal doesn't work. Its like it wants to start but just can't quite get there. I left it there and had the wife come get me this evening. Any ideas? I'm wondering if it's got a bad fuel pump or something? I'm pretty mechanically inclined so if I can just diagnose it I think I can fix it, just have to narrow it down first.

you should check the fuel pressure. if its low then the pump will probably need replaced. had to replace mine this past weekend, man what a pain in the ***.

That's what I'm afraid of. I did some research last night and it looks like the spider may be the issue as well. That would be the most convenient thing since I was already planning on doing the lower intake manifold gasket next week when I'm off of work. I think I'm going to try and locate a fuel pressure test kit today and see what's going on.

Also worth mentioning, when I put the key in the ignition and turn it to the accessories on mode, I do NOT hear the fuel pump running like it normally does. I also pulled the cap off the fuel shrader valve and depressed the nipple.....getting ZERO fuel coming out. Sounds to me like I'm just not getting ANY fuel to the engine.

check the relay, probably needs to be replaced. if that doesnt work most likely your fuel pump.

Mine just went all of a sudden. it did the same. i could push the nipple in the shrader valve and no fuel at all would come out at all. when changing the fuel pump if you have to, watch out for the fuel vent valve its on the front of the tank it has a hose vacuum hose connected to it. if you break it you'll have to order it cause no parts store keeps them in stock.
