Default Unknown electrical connector found during engine swap

We were in the middle of removing the engine from my 1998 Blazer 4x4 Auto. My brother and I were underneath trying to pry the bellhousing away from the engine. The tranny crossmember was removed, so the tranny was free to move around a little. I noticed a small pin type electrical connection fell in front of me, right under the bellhousing. It measured about 3/4 the length of my pinky, had a circular purple colored gasket around it with a very short length of black wire left on it. I examined both the engine and transmission closely and couldn't find any wires sheared off or places it looked like it would plug into. I guess I'm just asking if anyone would know where this particular connection would go. I guess it could be narrowed down to somewhere on the rear of the engine or top of transmission somewhere. Thanks in advance for any responses....
