Default Water Pump Help for 2002 4.3

I am going to replace this ORIGINAL part tomorrow.. and everywhere I read on the 'net.. I run into the same thing.." NOTICE: Refer to Fastener Notice in Service Precautions. See: Service Precautions\Vehicle Damage Warnings\Fastener Notice 2" And that's all I can find about it... no discussion of what it is.. what it means or anything at all about it.. was it an info released from GM for techs// Who Knows.. apparently NO-ONE!! Anyone have any idea what this entails.. what it is about or what it pertains too.. Apparently there is an issue with the tightening of the waterpump bolts..

And one more while I'm asking.. to remove the fan.. is it the bolts on the back of the round piece that holds the blades.. or the silver bolts that attach it to the pump that need to come off..? Thanks if anyone knows either or both of these answers..

The fan threads onto a rather large threaded portion of the water pump shaft. The large hex nut that is at the center needs to be unthreaded from the corresponding part of the water pump. Next, remove the belt. Then the 4 bolts can be removed to remove the pulley from the water pump.

As far as the 'notice', it is just a general precaution that details cleaning the threads, use of properly calibrated torque wrenches, etc. It really is a lot of common sense. If I get a chance, I'll scan the page out of the FSM that runs through the general fastener notice.

I think I'm going to have to do the water pump job on Thursday. Does anyone know where I can get the proper torque specs? How important are they?

30ft-lbs for the water pump to block fasteners. I couldn't find a torque spec for the pulley to water pump bolts.

What are you referring to with your "how important are they?" question?
