Default What to look for?

Thanks again to Swartlkk for warning me about the attempt of rebuilding a transmission on my own. I've decided to purchase a transmission that has already been rebuilt. Using www.car-part.com to my suprise there are 15-20 of them within an hour from my house. They range in price from $150-$600, this is quite a difference what should I be on the look for?

Default RE: What to look for?

Another word of caution here. Those available through Car-part.com are probably pulls (ie. used). Not bad if you can get a working, low mileage trans for under $500, but I wouldn't pay more than that and I would really want to see the pan removed to see what is on the magnet inside before I would buy it.

The other thing to consider is that professionally rebuilt transmissions (Jasper or MonsterTrans.com) while they may be more expensive, they have all of the upgrades/fixes that have been implemented between when your truck was produced and now. The rebuilds can get pricey ($1500-$1800), but you know it will work. Its a choice for sure.

If you are looking on the MonsterTrans.com website, your application is the 4L60E Early which is incorrectly labelled 'pre 1998'.
